When you hear India you think about the sari, the most popular traditionnal garment in India.

They don’t use the same sari for all their life. It’s different along the cast, the family situation, the region…

Firstly a woman use the sari just after her marriage not before because the sari mark the new status of the woman who get married; So for the marriage usually they use a red and golden sari with lot of jewels. Sometimes the family used all the thrift for the sari.They make herself the sari sometimes a long time before her marriage .

It is a traditional clothing but if they want they can make it whenever they want;They can also don’t wear this in a big city instead of wear it they can wear a jean on other things more westernized, but when they’re in a more traditional village they war the sari.

So the sari is for the work (in a cotton field for example) or on a yard.

So the India is a huge country so the sari is not traditionally the same. In certain village the sari is wear with neon colors or with lot of flowers it’s depend of the region. So if you see a Indian with a sari you can find her region thanks to her sari.

The sari can be a gift with some jewels for a family member.

The tissue the most used is the ‘nivi’, the different way to wear a sari is connected to the different cast.

The sari incarnate the South Indian philosophy, where we see the body like a symbol of life so the body is the manifestation of the creativity and the life; They use the sari like the protection of all this signification and it sublimates the body of all the woman who wear it.

So the sari have an important place in the India for the woman because it is used for a big part in a life of a woman and it pace the life.

Even if it's use for recognize the different cast waer a sari is for all the cast and at not time for the untouchable for example some sort of sari are discriminated or shameful. In conclusion it’s one of the only power who have the untouchable because the sari is for all the cast and when they wear this it’s like they are on an equal footing.
