In India the cotton field is 5 percent of arable land it’s not an enormous number but with the area of a country like India it’s very huge. So the India is the first cotton producer in the world with 23 percents of production in the world , but the consequences are terrible.
The farmer are from the sudras cast and they are poor. The international shop looking for the lowest price for buy their shirt with a margin really long, so the producer country use a technique for attract the cloths shop like H&M or ZARA… They employ people with a ridiculous salary and often they used children.
The farmer use dangerous and toxic product against’ bugs and disease. But they don’t have equipment for protect themselves so more than 100 producer per years died because of the cotton fields products. The consequences on the human are terrible, cancer, trisomia for newborn… More they used this dangerous products and more the bugs and disease are strong so they used most toxic product years after years.
The salary is really low and with this salary they barely provide for their families. So for respond to all the debts most often the farmer commit suicide, with this act they hope a better life for their children. Because if they commit suicide all the debts are cancel. So the suicide rate is always increase year by year, just for have a “good price” for the enormous store.
So yes the India is now one of the most biggest economical country in the world but the indians farmer died because of the poverty or the disease. So now when we see a t-shirt with a price like 5£ do you think it’s the real price of this clothe?
